The boat:
MANGALUI NDULU:
Mangalui Ndulu translated into the local Nias dialect literally means wave searcher. She is a magnificent 84 foot timber sloop, custom built in 1995 for the sole purpose of searching for waves.
The Mangalui is very flexible regarding both its scheduling and its charter destinations. She has a larger fuel, water, fridge and freezer capacity than most allowing trips to run for a longer time and further distances.
The tender Foxy Lady is a 7.3 metre plate aluminium speed boat with a Yamaha 200 hp on the back, traveling comfortably at 35 knots. Getting you there quickly when the wind swings or when you are in the area with a few different wave options, keeping you a step ahead.
The dive compressor is run by a three phase electric motor allowing quick tank refills for any qualified scuba divers that are keen to have a look at the tropical reefs below with the experienced PADI Dive Master onboard.
The Mangalui is captained, owned and operated by Australian Matt Cruden, who is amongst the few early pioneers who are still operating, clocking up his thirteenth season in the islands this year.
The Co-Captain Glen Brumley is an experienced surfer/Captain from Western Australia. He is an internationally qualified Master Class IV Captain and has quite a few years under his belt fishing and running a whale shark watching charter operation out of Exmouth in West Oz.
Chef Wal has been on the Mangalui for 6 years now and will certainly ensure those western taste buds are satisfied.
The four deckhands from Nias Island (Roi Boy, Deli, Situ and Bezzy) also endeavor to help you with your every need whilst onboard and in the water. They have all served a fair time onboard the Mangalui (from 4 to 8 years).
Miscellaneous: 2 tenders, Foxy Lady with 200 hp outboard engine and one dingy with 2x 25hp, flat screen TV, DVD, stereo, 220 volts plugs with international adaptors, life saving equipment, fishing and snorkeling gear, diving equipment and compressor, toilets and showers, 2 satellite phones, fax and internet.

Starts from:
Padang (West Sumatra).
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Padang Airport, transfer to the harbor, departure for the Mentawai in the evening.
Day 2: Arrival in the islands early morning, first surf in the area.
Day 3 to day 12: Boat trip aboard Mangalui Ndulu in the Mentawai and/or North Sumatra. Departure for Padang on the 12th day in the evening.
Day 13: Arrival in Padang early in the morning, transfer to Padang Airport by mid-morning to connect with outgoing international flights.
